New York Bone and Joint Specialists was proud to sponsor the talented young men and women of the Wheatley Cybercats Robotics team as they competed in the 2017 FIRST Robotics Competition this past Saturday. After months of hard work and ingenuity, the Wheatley team landed a place in FIRST Robotics, the nation’s most prestigious robotics competition, where high schools from throughout the tri-state area gather at Hofstra University to compete.

This year, competitors were challenged to design a robot that would work in conjunction with the robots of their competitors to perform tasks in the same way steam powered machines of the industrial era would work.

Dr. Leon E. Popovitz and Dr. Michael Y. Mizhiritsky were proud to support their sons, Steven Popovitz and Elan Mizhiritsky, as they presented their work as part of the Wheatley Cybercats team. These young men may have gotten their proficiency in robotics from their fathers, as they are no strangers to the advanced robot-aid techniques used in arthroscopic surgery. Experts would say that it’s more likely that skilled arthroscopic surgeons get their uncanny ability to navigate robotic utensils from video games.

Whatever career their robotic talent leads the young men and women of the Wheatley Cybercats, NY Bone and Joint Specialists admires their countless hours of work and is honored to support their endeavors.
