Sports Medicine Physician

Christopher Martin, MD is a Sports Medicine Physician who is an expert in the complete care of athletes, as well as treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries in the general population. At New York Bone & Joint Specialists, he specializes in Non-Operative Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. 

Dr. Martin grew up in a small town in Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2008. As a student, he enjoyed staying active, playing intramural sports like basketball and soccer, and running track and field. He continues with many of these activities today.

Dr. Martin graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 2015 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rutgers Health/Trinitas Regional Medical Center in 2018. He completed his Sports Medicine fellowship at Baton Rouge General Medical Center in 2020, where he had the opportunity to act as a team physician for Southern University and A&M College and Louisiana State University, two top NCAA Division 1 athletic programs. Working with LSU Football in 2019 was particularly rewarding for him, as they achieved an undefeated National Championship-winning season.

Dr. Martin is also trained in the non-musculoskeletal aspects of Sports Medicine, such as:

  • Concussions and other head injuries
  • Nutrition, supplements, ergogenic aids, and performance issues
  • Exercise prescription
  • Injury prevention
  • “Return to play” decisions in the ill or injured athlete
  • Healthy lifestyle promotion
  • Diagnostic ultrasound
  • Ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal/joint injections
