Four Subspecialty Fellowships | Hip Preservation (Ohio State) | Total Joint (Lenox Hill) | Clinical Assistant Professor Northwell
Dr. Rupesh Tarwala is a hip preservation and total joint orthopedic surgeon at New York Bone and Joint Specialists and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwell/Lenox Hill Hospital. He is one of the few orthopedic surgeons in the country to have completed FOUR SUBSPECIALTY FELLOWSHIPS — a distinction shared by very few surgeons nationally: (1) Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, Aria 3B Orthopedic Specialists, Philadelphia; (2) Total Joint Replacement & Adult Reconstruction, Lenox Hill Hospital, New York; (3) Hip Preservation, Ohio State University, Columbus; (4) Clinical Research, Arthritis Institute at Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles. His international fellowships in Germany, Switzerland, and England further distinguish his global training.
Dr. Tarwala has further distinguished his training with international fellowships in Trauma and Joint Replacement in Germany, Joint Replacement in Switzerland and England, and Hip Preservation and Spine Surgery at Ohio State University. His training with world-renowned orthopedic surgeons across the globe has equipped him with advanced techniques for minimally invasive, precise care. He is an International Resident of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, reflecting his commitment to advancing orthopedic care worldwide.
At New York Bone & Joint, Dr. Tarwala has built a practice centered on hip preservation — treating young and middle-aged active patients with FAI, labral tears, and hip cartilage injuries before they progress to the point where joint replacement becomes necessary. His extensive joint replacement training means that when a patient’s hip has deteriorated beyond the threshold for preservation, he has the surgical expertise to address that as well.
