Anti-Inflammatory Foods That Could Help Relieve Arthritis Pain
Arthritis is a condition that can cause much discomfort and pain, and affects over 350 million worldwide. The pain is usually chronic, but can flare up and become more intense from time to time. While anti-inflammatory medications can help, there are some natural methods to reduce inflammation as well, including certain foods. Here is a list of foods that may help you decrease the pain and inflammation that comes with arthritis.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
These fatty acids, found in seafood and fatty fish, flaxseed oil, walnuts, soybeans and spinach, not only help reduce inflammation, but may also help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Using fish oil as a dietary supplement has been shown to reduce inflammation as well, especially in autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Cruciferous Vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and brussels sprouts. Eating these type of vegetables, specifically, have been shown to lower inflammation and prevent heart disease more effectively than other vegetables in general.
Vitamin D
Ingesting Vitamin D has been shown to help prevent arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. You can find Vitamin D is fatty fish as well, and dairy and some grain products.
Tomatoes and Citrus Fruits
This is unless you have a sensitivity to solamine or citrus – then tomatoes and these fruits may make inflammation worse. Make sure you know how foods affect you individually, first. If you aren’t sensitive or allergic to these foods, they can be a real aid in your fight against inflammation.
Avocados
One of the best summertime foods is also one of the best tools against inflammation. Avocados have healthy fats, fiber, potassium and an assortment of needed vitamins.
